Oconee “Oak” is a 2017 16h OTTB gelding. He had 8 starts on the track before coming to us in 2020. He is very sensible and level headed, but is also a goofy, quirky boy who loves to have a job! He enjoys teaching his friends to play “Jollyball” with him and scheduling races in his paddock to show his paddock friends that he is still the fastest. Oak does come right down to business when it’s time to work, and has exceptional ground manners.
Oak goes WT undersaddle, and is working on his canter. He hacks out in the field alone or with a friend. He has a good brain, and tries hard once he figures out what you are asking of him. He is a nice mover and we think he would excel in low-level dressage, western pleasure, or trail riding horse. He would benefit from an intermediate to experienced rider and handler to continue his education. Oak is barefoot and UTD on everything. He currently lives outside 24/7 in a gelding herd. He requires some maintenance.
Please note potential adopters with pre-approved applications on file will get priority on new horses – we strongly recommend you fill out an application to get pre-approved.
