Rugar is a 2007 OTTB, JC: Wild Saint. He was KY bred, and raced 12 times, with total earnings of $43,300. He then found his next career as a Beginner Novice event horse and trained up to Novice 1. After that, Rugar was used as a lesson horse for intermediate students for several years.
Rugar was surrendered to us in the fall of 2023, and has been waiting for his forever home since. Rugar worked hard during his previous jobs, and is looking for a laid back lifestyle for his semi-retirement years. Rugar is serviceably sound and comfortable WT undersaddle, and he seems to enjoy having a riding job. He is a schoolmaster type, and with his extensive resume he is quite lovely to ride, and knows his lateral work well. He is currently being ridden 1 – 2 days per week, and enjoys hacking solo around our field as well. He has not been tested on the trails by us yet, but he would probably enjoy those too!
Rugar does have a bit of “spice” here and there, so should have an intermediate handler/rider. He is full of personality and really loves having his own person to spoil him. He stands on the crossties and is good to be brushed. He does well for the farrier and vet. Rugar would love a home of his own to enjoy with his own person.
