Thinking of adopting from us? Wonderful! We have so many horses, donkeys and mules in need good homes. We do our best to fit the right equine to the right new owner. We vet all prospective adopters to ensure our animals go to the perfect home.
Step 1: Read the bios of our available Adoptable Horses and Donkeys. All the information about each equine is here, including their limitations, health issues and placement requirements and well as their adoption fee commensurate to training and rehabilitation. By the time our horses and donkeys are ready for adoption, they have satisfied a vet checklist that includes microchipping, vaccinations, Coggins, hoof health care, and dental care. In addition, many of our equines have emergency or extensive ongoing care to get them in the best possible health for their forever homes.
Step 2: Submit an Adoption Application. We will need references to contact and the names of your vet and farrier. We also require pictures of your barn or shed, fencing and turn out. If there is a particular equine you’re interested in, you can tell us here. There is a $15 adoption application processing fee. You must be 18 years of age or older to adopt. Be sure to review our Adoption Contract before filling out an online application.
Step 3: After your application is approved, you will be contacted by our Adoption Manager. At that time, you and she can discuss what you’re looking for and how we can help. You will be invited to visit NEER and meet prospective equines. If a horse is suitable for riding, you’ll also be contacted by our Trainer to arrange a riding session at our farm.
Please note, NEER North will not adopt to homes without another equine on site. NEER North does not adopt equines to homes outside of the New England area. NEER equines are adopted under contract and may not be bred, raced or resold. You must be 18 years of age or older to adopt one of our equines.

We are always looking for foster homes for our “special needs” equines as well as professional training facilities to foster horses who would have a better chance at a forever home with a little training. This gives us the room to take in and rehabilitate needier horses who are at risk.
Fostering is a great way to help out if you can’t volunteer at our farm but want to contribute to the well being of an equine who deserves your individual attention and love. Perhaps you or someone you know might even fall in love and decide to adopt! Our horses that have been fostered enjoy building new relationships and bonding with the people who care for them.
