Current assessment and status: Available to the right home But with a “No Jumping” clause!
Blue went to Abenaki Farm needing some manners, evaluation and some “finishing” to her mounted skills. She has been there a little more than two months and is really coming along nicely! She LOVES attention and will come right over to you when she sees you come out to the pasture. She is turned out all day and night with both mares and geldings, in a herd of about 10. She is at the low end of the herd hierarchy.
She has been ridden both in the arena and on the trail, bareback and in just a halter. She rides fine English and Western (is fine with the back cinch) and takes the bit nicely. She needs some help/finishing on the transition from the trot and canter, but is coming along. She seems to think she needs to run into the canter but is learning that is not what is best. She has a lovely jog/sitting trot but an energetic trot, as well.
Her ground work is also coming nicely. She ground ties, will work off your energy, and is getting better everyday with moving her feet in hind-end disengagements, shoulders, etc.
She is a bit forward at the beginning of her work but settles down nicely.
Blue would be best suited for an intermediate to advanced rider. Again, Blue settles down but it just takes a bit of time at the beginning of her work, to let her know she doesn’t have to be fast. Due to past lameness issues, Blue will go to a home with a no jumping clause in her contract. She has juvenile cataract with 75% vision loss in her left eye, but it doesn’t seem to bother her.
