Current assessment and status: Extremely smart but will test-needs an experienced owner!
Zella is a big bodied 12-year-old 16+hh ottb mare. She will be limited to walk and a bit of trot under saddle but is a good trail prospect for an experienced handler, isn’t afraid of much, and goes out alone or with others and trailers nicely. Zella has a mystery hind-end lameness that comes and goes and on her good days loves to hack out but on her bad days prefers to be left alone. She is an easy keeper but does need front shoes. She was starved when she came to us and due to that has some issues with food aggression, she will need an experienced home that understands this and separates her from other horses for feeding time. She’s benefited greatly from chiropractic work.
Zella’s dislikes include insects, and her likes include clicker training and playing in her water tub. We think she would love to go for a swim someday too!
