Silkie is an 18yo American Mini Horse mare and Spirit is her 12yo gelding son. (Silkie has the white nose.) They arrived at NEER North with Silkie’s other son, Amigo. All three had lived most of their lives on the same property, so the transition to a new environment has been a big change. Thankfully, they are settling in great and adjusting more each day.
The mare Silkie, is sweet and friendly. She has handled the move well and seems comfortable with all the extra attention she’s receiving. She is closely bonded with her son, and the two of them will need to be adopted together when the time comes.
Spirit is a very sweet little horse who simply needs time and patience. Having never left his previous home before arriving here, everything is new to him. While he is timid with touch, he is very curious and will come up to gently sniff your hair or face. With consistent, quiet handling from our staff and volunteers, he is gaining confidence every day.
