Muffin and Buggsy are two lovely Equines who are ready to start a new chapter in life. These two were part of a law enforcement seizure, where they were found living in unsanitary conditions and lacking regular care, along with four other horses. Their journey has been tough, but they’ve shown remarkable resilience.
Muffin is a 27 yr old Silver colored Shetland pony that has always had a special bond with Buggsy since the day they were rescued. Their connection is undeniable, and they are often found together, sharing comfort and companionship. Muffin was given to her previous owners by a neighbor who no longer wanted her, and while her past is unclear, she has shown signs that she can trust and is very sweet and responds well to cookies!
Buggsy is a gorgeous, 22 yr old Buckskin/White Arab/Paint mare! She is a former barrel horse, according to a family member, though she hasn’t been ridden in over 15 years. We were told that she bucks hard under saddle, so we have not attempted to ride her. We were told that Buggsy can become behaviorally frantic in new situations, which we understand given her past. However, she settled in very well here at NEER and we did not see any of those issues. Buggsy lived on the same property for most of her life, and the changes she’s faced have been challenging for her. She is incredibly sweet on the ground and will come say hi to our volunteers. She is good with the vet and farrier as long as they are patient.
Buggsy and Muffin need an adopter who understands their unique needs and can offer them the time, patience, and consistency they require. We would love to see them adopted together, as their bond is very special. These two deserve a peaceful, loving home where they can continue to heal and thrive.
Please note potential adopters with pre-approved applications on file will get priority on new horses – we strongly recommend you fill out an application to get pre-approved.
