UPDATE: Cheyenne and Apache have found their forever retirement home. They will be able to live out their lives in a sanctuary setting being doted on and surrounded by people who love them.
Cheyenne and Apache are a bonded pair of mini horses. Cheyenne is 28 years old (he has the white markings on the nose.) Apache (the smaller one with pink halter) is 30 years old. Apache has Equine Recurrent Uveitis and is blind. Apache depends on Cheyenne as his seeing eye. But, he finds his way around pretty well if he is shown where his water and hay is. Cheyenne is still under medical evaluation for an infection.
They pair had been living on a campground before coming to NEER North, and even with Apache’s vision issues, have been settling in well in their new surroundings. They are used to people and are very sweet, but do not like too much action due to their age. We are still trying to get some more weight on both of them. They both receive soaked grain and chopped hay. These two gentlemen deserve a soft landing and are probably going to do best in a quiet environment with lots of love to live out their lives.
