Current assessment and status: Green Broke – needs an experienced trainer / advanced rider
April is smart as a whip but a bit green for her age and doesn’t have much experience under saddle. At this time she will require an advanced rider to continue her training and exposure under saddle. April is safe and has no buck/rear/bolt but will test her rider.
She is currently ground driving to work on her steering and doing light work under saddle at the walk/trot. She is sound at the walk/trot and maybe could eventually do some canter but shouldn’t be pushed further than this and is not a show prospect due to having foundered in the past. She also should not be turned out on lush grass pasture.
We think with her intelligence and fairly easy-going nature she will make a great trail pony. She also has had kids on her on leadline and is very patient but is not suitable for kids to ride independently yet.
